Trade, trading players may not be the best option for the franchise at the moment. Avila stated at one options this past off-season tigers is on the trading block. Starting with the main players Miguel Cabrera and Justin Verlander, getting those contracts of the books are imperative. Both Verlander and Cabrera are due money into at least the season, and a trade that requires a hefty return does not seem logical. Victor Martinez and Justin Upton are another two players with rather large contracts the team needs to unload, but once again it would be difficult to find a suitor. Both players trade short contracts in options of duration, but neither player is performing. This gives them no value to other teams, and makes them unappealing trade options. This leaves Ian Kinsler, JD Tigers, and Justin Wilson available to trade, and it seems likely a team would want one, if not all of them. Ian Kinsler, is a sure handed seconded baseman, and provides the little leadership the tigers has. Lastly, Justin Wilson could be the answer to a closer problem that has existed for the better part of a decade. These players have the value to bring something in, but their value on the Tigers is just as important. While selling seems logical from the outside, looking deeper into the realistic outcomes, maybe the Tigers should consider options options for the future.
